Transport and Logistics Coordinator

We are currently seeking an experienced Transport and Logistics Coordinator to join our Distribution Centre team based in Mackay. Reporting to the Distribution Centre Manager, you will have the opportunity to work with a team of experienced people and be responsible for the following;

  • Coordination and scheduling of all freight, fleet and operators throughout your direct areas of responsibility
  • Optimisation of General Freight and Heavy Haulage transport systems and processes
  • Consultation with external transport providers
  • Identification of cost saving initiatives
  • Reworking delivery schedules to reflect agreed business requirements
  • Receive orders and ensure timely delivery within the established tolerances
  • Notify stakeholders of deviations to schedule or late delivery
  • Comply with Driver Fatigue Management policies and statutory requirements
  • Keep operations informed of any issues which may affect delivery schedule
  • Compliance with Emeco WHS policies

We are looking for

  • 2+ years experience in a fast-paced administration role
  • Experience in freight logistics, load planning and the transport industry is highly regarded
  • LF Forklift Licence would be advantageous
  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable heavy vehicle legislation
  • Significant experience with transportation of heavy earthmoving equipment
  • Knowledge of load configurations, weights, Truck & trailer type allocation, Permits and curfews
  • Excellent understanding of general freight operations including load restraint expertise
  • Experience in transport scheduling or despatch using computerised scheduling tools
  • Strong ERP system knowledge (SAP, Pronto, Oracle)
  • Significant experience using Microsoft applications (Excel, Outlook etc.)
  • Resources sector experience highly valued
  • Comfortable negotiating with suppliers
  • Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to operate autonomously and as part of a team
  • A strong commitment to safety
  • Strong analytical skills with a solutions focus
  • Experience and knowledge of mining equipment industry
