UG Automation Technician

We are seeking an enthusiastic and safety-focused UG Mine Technology Technician to join our busy Mining Innovation & Automation team at Cadia.

Are you passionate about technology and fascinated by the world of mining and minerals? Do you have a knack for automation and a desire to contribute to the advancement of technology within the mining industry? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you as an UG Mine Technology Technician at Cadia.

As an UG Mine Technology Technician, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing our mining processes through the implementation and maintenance of advanced automation systems. Your expertise will help enhance safety, productivity, and cost-effectiveness in our operations while reducing human intervention and environmental impact. You will work closely with the engineering and operations teams, utilizing cutting-edge technologies to monitor, troubleshoot, and improve technology within our underground mining facilities.

Key responsibilities include:

• Contribute to the delivery of solutions that aim to remove personnel from hazards and/or reduce exposure through new or unique technologies and improved automation capability
• Maintain interconnected components and infrastructure used to convert, record, transport or control Mining processes, equipment, energy, and/or information for mining purposes
• Promote a safe work environment - be responsible for assisting with developing and nurturing the culture within the team

You will also have training, knowledge and experience in:

• Trade qualification – electrical/auto-electrical
• Training and experience in WLAN/LAN networking installation and fault-finding, including Fibre Optics (desirable)
• Mine data telemetry systems
• Underground and Surface mining technology applications
• Safety management
• Stakeholder management
• Functional Safety (desirable)
• IP Networks & Wi-Fi

Please note: This is a permanent full-time residential role (no FIFO/DIDO) at our Cadia mine site, on a 7D/7X/7N/7X roster.
