Our Cadia operation in Australia is now recruiting for the position of UG Mine Technician – Civil Services Boilermaker.

Who we’re looking for

We are seeking a motivated and hardworking Underground Mine Technician to join our close-knit team at Cadia. Reporting to the Supervisor – Civil Services, this role is responsible for Installation of civil infrastructure which may include, building of ventilation walls, concreting, installation of secondary fans and building of small structures. The Civil Services Operator may also carry out additional tasks as required (e.g. mine services work, charge-up, bogging, service checks).

Key deliverables of this role include, but not limited to:

  • Promote and maintain a culture of ‘safe production’ by compliance with company safety systems, policies, procedures and accountabilities. I.e. FCCCs, JSEA, Prestart inspections, hazcards and audits.
  • Ensure all incidents, near miss and hazards are reported to Shift Supervisor.
  • Undertake specific tasks as directed by the Underground Shift Supervisor.

As the ideal candidate, you will be a positive team player with excellent work ethics and a can do attitude. You will appreciate being part of a collaborative team and foster continuous improvement through your excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills. In addition, you will also ideally have:

  • Trade qualification in Boilermaking (welding, steel fabrication)
  • Proven track record in promoting and managing Safety in the workplace
  • Experience in and sound knowledge of underground Metalliferous mining.
  • Willingness to take ownership of issues associated with your role.
  • Results orientated with a commitment to delivering planned outcomes consistent with ‘Safe Production’.
  • Technical capability to install mine services to a high standard

Please note: This is a residential role. You will be required to work a 7 days on/7 off/7 nights on/7 off roster (12-hours per day, Thursday – Wednesday).
