Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. This role is a key position within the Mining Projects team who are responsible for the development of the future caves at Cadia. This includes PC2-3 which has started undercutting and PC1-2 which has commenced development activities.
This is an incredible opportunity for the right candidate with many unique development opportunities available to test the right candidate including the construction of mass excavation chambers and high-speed development.
Who we're looking for
As a Jumbo Operator, you will play a critical role in being responsible for the safe and productive operation of a two-boom jumbo drilling rig for the purpose of underground development mining and installation of ground support. To do this you will:
- demonstrate a great attitude with high standards for both safety and performance
- monitor progress against plan, take corrective action to achieve compliance with shift plans, and eliminate waste and rework.
- take ownership of your work area which includes quality and standards.
- be a role model within the mining projects team
Key responsibilities include:
- Technical capability to operate (scale, bolt, bore and RCS5) a Epiroc twin boom jumbo (M2D and E2C) with high accuracy and efficiency
- Ability to read ground conditions and where required incorporate additional ground support and make decisions on drilling patterns that improve excavation quality.
- Previous exposure to the installation of posi-mix bolts and geobrugg mesh will be highly regarded.
- Achieving daily and weekly schedule outcomes
- You may also carry out additional tasks as required (e.g., mine services work, charge-up, bogging, service checks, minor maintenance and Supervisor relief).
To support this, you will have:
- A strong attitude and commitment to workplace health and safety as well as the ability to step up and lead a crew
- Ensuring all incidents, near misses and hazards are reported, escalated and investigated.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills
- The ability to mentor and develop nippers in their roles underground.
Please note:
This position is based in Orange, NSW on a 7/7 roster days and nights.
FIFO and DIDO options will be considered for the correct candidate.
Max term contract until end of November 2025.
