Our Cadia site is located in Central West New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional town of Orange and three hours’ drive from Sydney. Employees reside in the varied accommodation options in Orange, with the surrounding winery and national park areas to enjoy.

Who we’re looking for

Newcrest Cadia is seeking a Ventilation Technician to ensure execution of the ventilation plan at CVO Cadia East and Ridgeway underground mines, including the operation of the ventilation system, fault finding, maintenance, and monitoring of underground atmosphere conditions. Working closely with other key roles such as the Ventilation Engineer and operations, you must be able to contribute quality input into plan development, escalate ventilation concerns supported by fact, data, and plans, and communicate ventilation changes, requirements, and workplace conditions.

Other key deliverables include:

  • Ensure all aspects of the Vent Plan supplied by the Ventilation engineer are in place, including ventilation controls, primary and secondary infrastructure, and refuge chamber locations.
  • Assist with Quarterly Primary Ventilation Surveys.
  • Conduct Regular Ventilation audits, including flow, temperature, and contaminant checks and recording, as well as proper controls of unventilated areas.
  • Conduct workplace inspections and monitor flow, temperature, and airborne contaminants.
  • Assist to maintain ventilation process documentation, including Ventilation Procedures/TARPS and Ventilation Instructions.
  • Input and maintain mine ventilation records, including updating and changes to Ventsim modelling.
  • Manage monitoring devices and calibration.
  • Mitigate major hazards across ventilation processes to ensure process safety.
  • Act as an emergency incident control representative and provide onsite verification of major ventilation changes.

As the ideal candidate, you will be energetic, hardworking and enjoy following procedures. You should possess behaviour consistent with Newcrest values and demonstrate effective communication skills both verbally and in writing, upwards and to operational levels. You will need to have the ability to maintain data sources and be able to perform basic calculations effectively. Additionally, you should be able to engage others effectively to drive the required action and accountability.

Please note: This is a permanent fulltime role based at our Cadia operation in NSW. You will be required to work a 5 days on/2 off roster.
