King of the Hills (KOTH) is the flagship operation of Vault Minerals Limited and one of the largest gold mines in Australia. Undergoing significant expansion, KOTH is nearing completion of a 7.5 million tonne per annum (Mtpa) processing plant (previously 5.2Mtpa), providing a solid platform for long-term production growth. This dynamic operation combines open-pit and underground mining, with exciting exploration activities driving the future. KOTH is located approximately 900 km northeast of Perth and 25 km north of Leonora, within the Goldfields Region of Western Australia.

Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Manager, Underground Mobile Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for leading the Underground mobile maintenance function to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance of all mobile plant and equipment. This role oversees planning, scheduling, execution, and continuous improvement of maintenance activities to maximise equipment availability, reliability, and operational performance in alignment with business objectives and statutory requirements.

Our fleet will include Sandvik jumbos, Epiroc Longhole drills and underground trucks, CAT boggers and graders, and a Hitachi IT loader.

This position will be offered on an8:6roster FIFO from Perth

Key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Manage, with the assistance of the site Coordinators, the day-to-day activities of the Underground Mobile Maintenance teams, inclusive of contractors in a cost effective and efficient manner, ensuring awareness of performance targets, and have access to the necessary tools to achieve these and that their activities are aligned with Company targets.
  • Ensure that the activities of Underground Mobile Maintenance personnel are consistently aligned with meeting operational targets by conducting regular inspections and audits specifically checking compliance of established standards and procedures in relation to safety & production issues.
  • Correct and/or report safety and environmental hazards when identified to mitigate risk and reduce the occurrence of incidents and/or injury by investigating and reporting on ground control issues.
  • Ensure minimal disruption to production through the ready access to critical parts & equipment and service providers by developing and maintaining good working relationships with external companies and having contingency plans in place to source these at short notice if required.
  • Ensure organisational capability and a quality orientation by the utilisation of relevant reports using Pronto or similar CMMS to monitor reliability, availability and cost effectiveness of all electrical assets under control.
  • Prepare annual operational and Sustaining Capital budgets for areas of responsibility
  • Prioritise and complete tasks accurately as to specifications as assigned by your Manager within required timeframes.
  • Ensure robust short, medium and long term maintenance plans are developed and communicated in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with the Maintenance Supervisors to coordinate strategies/priorities for equipment repairs and planned shutdowns to ensure successful and relevant outcomes
  • Ensure purchase and work orders are raised as necessary to ensure the appropriate items and equipment are available to complete job requirements.
  • Prepare and manage monthly cost reports for Underground Mobile Maintenance.

About You

  • Relevant Mechanical Engineering qualification or nationally recognised trade certificate, and/or equivalent experience.
  • Proven track record in supervising teams, managing performance, and fostering accountability, with demonstrated strengths in leadership, supervision, and mentoring.
  • Demonstrated expertise in maintenance planning, reliability, and asset management principles, supported by strong budget management, resource allocation, forecasting, and budgeting capabilities. Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, optimise operational performance, effectively manage resources, and adapt to changing priorities and planning variations.
  • Previous experience working with OEM, Epiroc, Sandvik, Hitachi and CAT product lines.
  • Knowledge of the statutory requirements of the Western Australian Mining Act and Regulations, as well as the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act.
  • WHS for Statutory Supervisor Training/Qualification (Schedule 26).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Project) and computer-based maintenance systems, with proven experience in maintenance planning using CMMS platforms such as SAP, Pronto, and AMT.
  • Hold a WA Class C Driver's licence.
