About the Role
The Olympic Dam Mine Geology team are seeking a passionate and experienced senior level underground mine geologist to join their team. Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Geology, this position will assist in leading our team to deliver targeted, high quality geological information to meet our stakeholder’s needs. This opportunity provides the chance to not only develop your own geology and leadership skills but also contribute to the vast and continued geological understanding of this world class polymetallic orebody.
In this role you will:
- Ensure accurate and timely geological data collection, analysis, and interpretation to improve orebody knowledge and influence the plan.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to integrate key geological information into mine designs, schedules, and production activities.
- Plan underground diamond drill programs that are safe, efficient, and effective in obtaining the right technical data at the right time.
- Oversee and optimise grade control and reconciliation systems to ensure efficient ore extraction while minimizing dilution and ore loss.
- Ensure high standards of documentation and clear communication of relevant geological observations and subsequent interpretation.
- Identify improvement opportunities and implement innovative solutions to improve geological processes and workflows.
- Mentor and develop the mine geology team, ensuring a high level of technical competence within the team.
About You
With a tertiary degree in geoscience, the successful applicant will ideally have:
- Solid mine geology experience - hard rock underground experience preferred but not essential,
- An overriding commitment to health, safety environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
- Solid understanding of operational mining cycles, grade control and reconciliation systems.
- Ability to prioritize and make decisions based on their impact on their value to business outcomes.
- Desire to develop your leadership capabilities and create inclusive team cultures.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills the ability to build rapport and establish productive relationships with a range of stakeholders.
