About the Role
The Olympic Dam Mine Geology team are seeking a passionate and experienced underground mine geologist to join their team. Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Geology, this position will assist in enabling our team to deliver targeted, high quality geological information to meet our stakeholder’s needs. This opportunity provides the chance to not only develop your own geology skill sets but also contribute to the vast and continued geological understanding of this giant and world class polymetallic orebody.
In this role you will:
- Undertake data collection activities (drilling, logging and mapping) to improve orebody knowledge.
- Interpret and communicate key geological data to all stakeholders to improve production activities and ore segregation based on in situ geological features.
- Plan underground diamond drilling programs that are safe, efficient, and effective in obtaining the right technical information at the right time.
- Evaluate, report, and provide information relating to grade controls and material reconciliation to assist our planning and execution teams to operate effectively.
- Ensure high standards of documentation and clear communication of relevant geological observations and subsequent interpretation.
About You
With a tertiary degree in geoscience, the successful applicant will ideally have:
- An overriding commitment to health, safety environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
- Hard rock underground geology experience preferred but not essential.
- A passion for understanding mineral systems, driven by a continuous desire to learn, share knowledge and develop in pursuit of technical excellence.
- Ability to build rapport and establish productive relationships with a range of stakeholders and internal networks.
- A current manual driver’s license.
