Deflector Operation consists of two high-grade, narrow vein Gold/Copper mines, located 160 km east of Geraldton. The ore is contained in a series of structurally complex lodes, namely the Deflector and Deflector South West deposits.
Reporting to the OSH&T Manager, the Underground OHS Advisor will provide expert advice, guidance, and support to ensure compliance with all occupational health and safety requirements within an underground mining environment. This role works closely with operational leaders, contractors, and employees to promote a strong safety culture, minimise risk, and ensure safety standards are maintained in accordance with legislative, company, and site requirements.

Key responsibilities of this role will include:
- Conduct workplace inspections, audits and risk assessments.
- Monitor recommendations and actions from incident investigations, inspections and audits.
- Compile and complete statutory reports, statistical reports, EOM OHS and Workers Compensation reports.
- Compile statistical reports on injuries, type, frequency, trends, and actions.
- Provide specialist advice on workplace health and safety matters to ensure compliance with WHS legislation, Codes of Practice, and Australian and company standards.
- Provide advice and support to site in the implementation of OHS policies and procedures.
- Carry out targeted OHS training.
- Assist with maintaining and reviewing the site Safety Management System (SMS), Management Plans and associated procedures.
- Monitor and analyse safety performance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with emergency preparedness planning, drills, and response.
About You
- Previous experience in a similar position within an Underground Mining environment is essential.
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (minimum) or Diploma / Degree in Occupational Health and Safety preferable.
- Strong understanding of WHS legislation and risk management principles.
- Experience with incident investigation methodologies, (e.g., ICAM).
- Proficient in OHST management systems, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with other programs which include INX and Pronto.
- Hold a WA Driver’s Licence (manual C Class).
