About the role
Join Macmahon's 2026/2027 Vacation Student Engineer Program and gain practical industry experience across our surface mining operations throughout Western Australia.
This structured 10 to 12-week paid program is designed for Mining and Mechanical Engineering students looking to apply their university studies in a real-world mining environment. Throughout the program, you'll work alongside experienced leaders and technical specialists while building practical skills and gaining exposure to operational mining activities
Participants may gain exposure to a range of mining and business functions, including surface operations, maintenance environments, mine planning, and operational support. They may also contribute to commercial, project management, HSEQ, and business improvement initiatives across the organisation.

Responsibilities
- Apply engineering knowledge in a practical mining environment
- Support operational, maintenance and project activities across site
- Contribute to business improvement initiatives and meaningful project work

What you'll bring:
- Currently studying Mining Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- In your 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of university (as of November 2026)
- Full Australian working rights
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
- Successful applicants must pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening, as well as criminal history and qualification checks
