Vacation Students - Underground Mining

Macmahon has a number of exciting opportunities for Vacation students to join us over Summer. These roles would suit Mining Engineer students with a keen interest in underground operations. You will be assigned to an operations team on a fly-in, fly-out roster from Perth or Kalgoorlie; 2 weeks on, 1 week off.

Our end-to-end mining services encompass mine development and materials delivery, engineering, civil construction, on-site mining services, rehabilitation, and site remediation. With over 55 years of experience, Macmahon is a mining contractor with a unique capability of offering its clients surface, underground and mining support services.

The role 

• Gain practical skills and operational experience at one of Macmahon’s multiple WA undergound operations
• You will be assigned to a specific project for the duration of your summer placement
• You will become an integral part of the team, working alongside our experienced crews
• Learn about the day-to-day life of a Miner and the benefits and challenges of a FIFO lifestyle
• Demonstrate your ability to focus, learn, contribute and be an impressive candidate for the graduate program

The ideal candidate

• 2nd or 3rd year Mining Engineering students wishing to pursue a career in Undergound Mining
• Mining Engineering students considering Macmahon’s Graduate Program 
• Must be available to work FIFO for the whole months of December 2022 and January 2023 – no time off if rostered to work XMAS, New Years or any other public holiday or day during the block
• Great verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent work ethic and a strong safety orientation
• A desire to learn and build relationships
• An unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence
