Illawarra Metallurgical Coal (IMC) produces premium quality, hard coking coal for steelmaking, which is transported within Australia and around the world. We operate two underground metallurgical coal mines, two preparation plants and a logistics chain.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent full-time position based at the Appin mine which is, near the coastal city of Wollongong, NSW, and approximately 75 kilometres southwest of Sydney. 

As the Ventilation Coordinator, you will plan ventilation works required to support the mine’s production processes and the delivery of production forecasts. Contribute to the delivery of statutory compliance functions relating to ventilation.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

  • Develop strategies to deliver ventilation and gas management requirements across short, medium, and long term time frames.
  • Detailed planning and execution of the ventilation work groups and projects to support the mine’s ventilation requirements.
  • Manage and maintain the element’s of Appin’s Safety Management System relating to ventilation and gas management.
  • Support Appin’s production team meet targets through day to day ventilation and gas management activities.

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

  • Solid experience working at an underground coal operation.
  • Demonstrated underground coal supervision, coordinating or managing work groups.
  • Ability to communicate, contribute, influence and make decisions within multi-functional teams.
  • A passion for developing, coaching and mentoring employees resulting in improved engagement, diversity and organisational capability.

Qualifications for this position are: 

  • NSW Practicing Certificate as a Ventilation Officer (preferred)
  • NSW Practicing Certificate as a Deputy or Undermanager (preferred)
  • Mining Engineering degree (preferred)
