The Mount Monger Operation (MMO) is an expansive tenement package located 50km southeast of Kalgoorlie. Spanning multiple gold mineralisation styles, this dynamic operation currently includes the Daisy Milano Underground Mine, the Santa, French Kiss and Flora Dora Open pit mines and the Randalls Gold Processing Facility.
Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, the Ventilation & Projects Mining Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining effective underground ventilation systems to ensure safe working conditions and regulatory compliance. This position will also play a key role in project management, supporting infrastructure upgrades, mine expansions, and other engineering initiatives. 
This position will be offered on an 8:6 roster FIFO from Perth
Key responsibilities of this role will include:
  • Ventilation System Design & Optimisation – Develop, implement, and maintain underground ventilation networks to ensure adequate airflow, gas management, and temperature control in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Ventilation Monitoring & Performance Analysis – Conduct regular ventilation surveys, gas monitoring, heat monitoring and airflow measurements to assess system performance and implement improvements as required.
  • Ensure compliance of all mine ventilation systems with the approved Ventilation Management Plan and relevant WHS legislation
  • Maintain, review, and update the Ventilation Management Plan to reflect operational changes and continuous improvement initiatives in line with WHS Act and Regulations
  • Regulatory Compliance & Reporting – Ensure all ventilation systems meet Western Australian mining regulations (DMIRS) (e.g. HRA) and prepare detailed reports on ventilation performance, statutory compliance, and audits.
  • Mine Project Support – Provide engineering input into mine expansion projects, infrastructure development, mine services, explosive management and optimisation initiatives to support efficient and safe mining operations.
  • Emergency Preparedness & Risk Management – Assist in the design and implementation of emergency response systems related to ventilation, such as secondary egress planning, refuge chamber placement, and hazardous gas mitigation.
  • Collaboration with Operational Teams – Work closely with production, geotechnical, and planning teams to integrate ventilation considerations into stope designs, mine plans, and scheduling.
  • Data Management & Software Utilisation – Use industry-standard software (e.g., Ventsim) for ventilation modelling, simulations, and performance tracking, ensuring accurate documentation and continuous improvement.
About You 
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mining Engineering (or a related discipline), or an equivalent qualification, supported by practical experience in underground gold mining operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting underground ventilation systems.
  • Strong understanding of project management processes to support infrastructure upgrades, mine expansions, and broader engineering initiatives.
  • Hold, or be willing to obtain, a WA WHS Ventilation Officer Certification.
  • Proven ability to communicate plans effectively to the underground workforce.
  • Previous experience with ventilation monitoring tools i.e. anemometers, pressure gauges etc to ensure vent compliance.
  • Proficiency in ventilation simulation software, particularly VentSim, along with the ability to use mine design software such as Datamine (preferred) or Surpac.
  • Hold a current WA Driver’s License (manual C Class)
