We are looking for a Water and Wastewater Operator to join our close knit team in providing support in servicing and maintaining the water supply for he Weipa Mine Operators and Town.

You’ll live in the idyllic coastal town of Weipa, with full relocation provided, working across the Northern Operations.

You’ll be working a day shift 4 on, 4 off roster with variation in your work day to keep things interesting in a small team that support each other you will be:

• Servicing and maintaining the water supply and water treatment infrastructure for the Weipa mining Operations and the town of Weipa
• Working with mining processing and beneficiation plant as well as the Weipa Town Authority
• Recording, interpreting and reporting data on SCADA and factory talk systems
• Undertaking sampling and field testing of water and waste water to ensure compliance
• In-field troubleshooting of plant specific faults
• Conducting all tasks in a safe and reliable manner 

What you’ll bring

• A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
• A current and valid C class drivers’ license
• Certificate III in water/waste water treatment
• Demonstrated experience in water and waste water treatment
• Ability to effectively communicate unfavourable plant conditions and good understanding of TARPS
• Ability to work in a dynamic team environment
• Available to work “on call” during shift
• Ability to interpret data on SCADA and factory talk systems 
• Relevant trade qualification, such as Plumber or Water Fitter will be looked upon favourably

Where you’ll be working

Our Weipa Operations includes three bauxite mines, processing facilities, ship loaders, an export wharf, two ports, power stations, a rail network and ferry terminals. Located on the Western Cape York Peninsula in Far North Queensland, each year the operation produces more than 35 million tons of bauxite.

Our operations are supported by a 1,900-strong workforce—including 26 per cent who are women and 25 per cent Indigenous employees. Activities include mine operations, maintenance, asset management, ports, cultural heritage management, and processing facility management.

The development of our new mine, Amrun, which was completed in 2018, will extend the life of our Weipa bauxite operations by decades to come and significantly build on our 55-year history on the Western Cape.
