Water Management Maintenance Technician
Work Location: Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.

Be a part of FMG’s exciting new magnetite mine at Iron Bridge. Currently under construction, when finished it will be one of the largest magnetite mines in W.A. The world class facility is situated 145km south of Port Hedland and will deliver 22 million tonnes per annum of high grade 67% magnetite concentrate product. The innovative process design ensures production is highly efficient with globally competitive operating costs for a mine of this scale and size. Iron Bridge will employ 900 full time positions once operations commence in early 2023.
We are currently looking to recruit Water Services Maintainers to be a part of the Maintenance Services department. The department is responsible for the reliable supply of raw water to the processing facility as well as water supply for near mine services and the management of the tailings settling facility.
Reporting to the Maintenance Services Supervisor, the scope of responsibility includes operation and maintenance of a bores and pump stations including pumps, instrumentation, telemetry, control panels and gensets. Additionally, tailings management including operation of discharge spigots, decant equipment and facilities are part of responsibilities. Finally, frequent inspections of pipelines, valves and other equipment is also expected of the role.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Regular inspection and data collection of equipment including pipelines, valves, bore pumps, centrifugal pumps and turkey nests including water testing.
- Install and repair poly pipes using butt, electrofusion and extrusion welding methods
- Bore pump installation and repairs in a team environment
- TSF spigot operation, decant management and daily inspections of plant and equipment
- Refuelling of generators and pumps
- Raising notifications, work orders and time confirmations
- Provide support when required to the Maintenance Services team, in accordance with internal systems and guidelines, to ensure achievement of key performance indicators
Qualifications and skills required:
- Experience in operating machinery including I.T’s, wheel loaders, excavators, hiabs, trucks, chainsaws and various poly welding machines (tickets desirable)
- 4WD training (preferred)
- HDPE piping unloading and stringing experience
- Act as certificate holder for high risk work (preferred)
- Good understanding of pumping systems and poly piping / water conveyance systems
- HR driver’s license (preferred)
- HDPE butt welding, extrusion, electrofusion and chainsaw tickets and experience
- High risk Licence - Crane vehicle loading (CV), Dogging (DG), EWP (preferred)
