Wind Mechanical and Drivetrain Technical Manager
Work location: Flexible
In support of Fortescue’s strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key initiatives will be evaluating Wind Turbine Generators. FFI is currently looking for a highly experienced Engineering Manager to join the Technical Wind Team with a focus on evaluating available products in the market, disruptive technology opportunities, and product risk assessments.
Key responsibilities:
- Support Product selection and FFI’s wind technical strategy development
- Develop mechanical components strategy and associated staffing plans
- Product Development process management:
- Understand future requirements of the engineering team to support future state
- Participate in setting direction for future development/product plans
- Understand business priorities from the Portfolio and PM perspective
Qualifications and skills required:
- Bachelor of Engineering degree required, Masters of Engineering preferred
- Minimum 5-10 years’ experience managing engineering teams
- OEM experience with design, manufacturing, and operation of wind turbine generators
- A passion for coaching and mentoring qualified engineers
- Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders and in multidiscipline teams
- High commitment to safety
- Experience in preparing detailed scope of works; participating / coordinating in the purchasing tender process; and contractor management
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a drive for excellence
- Results driven, responsible and accountable
- Skilled in problem solving rapidly
