Yard Locomotive Operator
Location - Port Hedland
Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.
Roster - 4 days/4 nights/8 rest - residential or FIFO ex Perth
Fortescue Metals Group are currently seeking experienced Yard Locomotive Operators to be based in Port Hedland on a residential or FIFO basis. Reporting to the Supervisor of Rail Operations, you will be responsible for meeting customer needs by safely, reliably and efficiently delivering ore from the mine to the port. In addition, you will also complete shunting and other yard duties.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Operating all FMG trains, shunting, locomotive provisioning, general yard work, carry out minor repairs, vehicle checks, and assisting RSM technicians as requested
- Ensuring that all customer's needs are met in regards to the delivery of ore from the mine to port facilities by being flexible and using your initiative and skills
- Assisting in the coaching and developing the knowledge and skills of lesser experienced operators and trainees
Qualifications and skills required:
- Experience as a qualified Locomotive Operator
- Heavy haul experience (preferable)
- A current medical fitness to operate a locomotive
- A demonstrated commitment to Safety and Safe working
- A very good ability to problem solve and make decisions
- Previous experience of working effectively with a limited amount of supervision
- A current Drivers licence
- Good computer literacy in MS Office software
