About Mt Arthur Coal

Mt Arthur Coal is an open-cut coal mine 100 per cent owned by BHP. Located in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales it's the largest producer of energy coal in the region, operating alongside olive growers, wine makers, horse breeders and the nearby residential community of Muswellbrook.

About the Role

Reporting to the Infrastructure Maintenance Supervisor the Air-Conditioning Technician will undertake day-to-day preventative maintenance activities and breakdown repairs in a safe and efficient manner.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Undertake preventative maintenance inspections of plant and equipment;
  • Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development;
  • Ensure adequate scoping of corrective work to facilitate the planning process;
  • Cultivate positive relationships through effective communication and consultation;
  • Take a proactive role in maintaining appropriate standards of behaviour;
  • Participate within the Site Services to implement business plans consistent with site strategies/ plans;
  • Monitor the Site Services work plan and elevate unplanned and non-routine activity or performance to the Supervisor;
  • Perform all aspects of planned, breakdown and shutdown activities in regard to Air-conditioning systems maintenance;
  • Carry out system generated on and offline inspections

This opportunity is offered on either a Monday to Friday 9.33hr days roster or Monday to Thursday / Tuesday to Friday 12hr days roster.

About you

As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:

  • Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Trade Qualification
  • Licenced Electrician (Desirable)
  • Valid Australian driver’s license
  • ARC Refrigerant Handling License
  • Mix of experience in both Domestic work and Mining Operations
  • Computer Literacy to use the following systems - 1SAP, Fiori, MS Excel and Word
  • A proven track record of safety management
  • Must be able to work at a high standard autonomously
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills
