About the Opportunity:

This newly created role will work as part of the site team, reporting to the Site Project Manager. The purpose of this role is to spend significant time in the workplace with line leaders and teams to:

  • Drive our safety strategies and initiatives with line leaders;
  • Challenging and coaching of our ways of working so that work is done as intended; and
  • Continue to identify unrecognized hazards and/or accepted practices that need to be changed; and
  • Assist with practical ways of achieving this change.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Understand and implement our safety strategies;
  • Contribute ideas and methods and processes that will achieve better safety outcomes for our people;
  • Identify unrecognized hazards and/or accepted practices that need to be changed;
  • Challenging and coaching of our ways of working so that work is done as intended;
  • Challenge the ‘green’ (the things we assume are working well) and embrace the ‘red’ (the bad news);
  • Assist in the literal work of changing the way we work to achieve better safety outcomes;
  • Assist in investigations and action implementation.

About the Person:

  • Strong underground mining safety/operational background;
  • Ability to identify hazards and ways of working that need to change;
  • Very strong interpersonal skills so that you are able to challenge our ways of working, but retain/build trust of our leaders and teams and at the same time provide practical ways of achieving the desired change;
  • Experience, wisdom and influencing skills to be able to navigate a path so that outcomes are achieved in a timely manner for the various situations.
