Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in leading engineering compliance and promoting a safety culture across site, whilst being supported and gaining valuable experience as you work toward obtaining your certificate of proficiency and practicing certificate as a mechanical engineer at a coal mine.

About the Role

  • Developing, reviewing and approving standards, specifications and procedures

  • Verifying compliance of new installations and equipment modifications

  • Conducting inspections, audits and assurance activities

  • Delivering risk assessments and hazard reviews and implement and verify controls

  • Driving incident investigations and corrective actions

  • Maintaining statutory documentation and records

  • Liaising with regulators and external auditors

  • Providing engineering technical advice to support operations, maintenance and project teams.

Roster and Location

  • Monday to Friday professional roster

  • Based on site at HVO (off Lemington Road)

About You

  • An advanced diploma, associate degree or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering

  • Experience in open-cut and/or CHPP maintenance, or other mining or heavy industry maintenance

  • A proven record of delivering positive outcomes and demonstrate a strong systems focus and strategic approach

  • Well-developed communication skills and the ability to engage with and influence stakeholders across the business
