The Company
Metarock Group Limited is the holding company of PYBAR Mining Services and Mastermyne, leading mining services companies delivering a diverse range of products and services to underground operations across Australia in Hard Rock and Coal. The Hard Rock business is headquartered in Orange and Metarock (and Mastermyne) is based in Mackay, QLD.

With a workforce of more than 1700 we are a people business, so the People team play an important role guiding the evolution of PYBAR and Mastermyne under Metarock, and in providing value adding support to our people, operational teams and group leadership.
The Opportunity
It’s vital for us to have a strong People presence in the Orange headquarters to sustain energy, act as a confidant and counsel and to be entrenched within the PYBAR operational leadership team and other functional teams that support Hard Rock operations.
Working in partnership with Project leaders, you will provide practical HR advice and solutions and lead assigned projects. You will be magnetic, trusted and a natural influencer who is known to be pragmatic and effective. With a sound employment relations background, you’ll have good nose for risk and excellent intuition as to when and how to mollify or escalate matters. A tenacious self-starter you enjoy taking ownership in a dynamic environment, be solutions-focused and able to prioritise and organise your time efficiently.
Whilst this role is ideal for a solid generalist, we will squeeze all value from your existing field of specialisation whilst providing development opportunities in your areas of interest. Our People team is well resourced with specialist teams in Recruitment, Training and IR, offering enormous opportunity for development and career progression.
Other key attributes required for the role are:
- Prior experience working in a contracting company highly desirable;
- Ability to build strong relationships with operational teams;
- Problem solving orientation;
- Awards / EA interpretation;
- Exceptional organisation to juggle conflicting priorities and stakeholder expectations;
- Good financial acumen;
- Understanding the impact of HR decisions have on productivity & financial performance;
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with high attention to detail;
- Tertiary Qualifications in Human Resources plus a minimum of 3 years post qual experience desirable;
